Monthly Archives:May 2006

I came across this link by following a Lo** link to Brandylion’s page and then a link from her page to another. This link was found in the comments section of that third page. This is some gorgeous stuff, folks . . . feast your eyes?on the art of Rob Gonsalves. It puts you in mind of Escher, but really different.

Congratulations to the Kenai girls’ softball team, Angels!!!! After an amazing double header Saturday (8-4 first game and 28-6 second game!) tonight you took on the cross town rivals and whupped them in short order – 28-12! Woot!

I’m sure Lessa will tell all about it later tonight – and while you are there, check out her entry from May 30 talking about the Boy’s first driving lesson. hahahahaha – yes, I can laugh. I played a big part in teaching my girls how to drive. Our vehicles had permanent fingernail marks in the arm rests! Lessa delighted in making me squeal (with painful fear!) as she turned wide corners or came a wee bit close to other cars. Oh, yes, my girl. You do deserve this time in your life. hahahahahaha.

Okay, folks. I am off here. By the way – it rained today! ’bout time. We sure needed it.

cocoa smile

Good morning!

I fixed a cup of hot cocoa last night to have with my evening purusal of emails. Must be fortified for all that spam, you see. I looked down as I was about to take a sip and found a cute little smilie face. Of course, I had to take the shot before I took the drink. 😉

Local paper with a priceless tongue in cheek look at Alaskan tourists and their misconceptions. You’ll have to register to read one of my favorite columnists. If you’d rather not register and still want to read it, email me and I may let you in on my password information. 😉 (or leave a comment)

Even our mobile homes are igloos??? 😉

Yeah, I know – the quality of the photo isn’t all that great. It’s actually a scan of a post card we printed FROM a photo we took several years ago. We were talking with the fellow who makes/made these and asked if we could take the picture of the building which was on the trailer. I told him my tag line and he insisted on Alaskanizing it that much more by hooking up an OLD beater truck to the trailer. We live in Alaska – we make our own fun.

Another absolutely gorgeous day in Alaska, folks. Of course, with the heat (give us a break – 75 degrees is H.O.T. to Alaskans – and well above normal for this time of year, btw) and the wind comes the dreaded wild fires. There are several burning in the state right now and there is a burn ban in place. Bad news for Memorial Day fishermen/campers, also, as they are not permitted even to have a bonfire. The authorities will be busy, I imagine.

Hubby moose has been busy since Friday holding a “moving sale” at our former business location. He and some of his cronies got together a bunch of junk stuff and have been selling all weekend. They intend to continue tomorrow.

And, what, you may be asking yourselves, will the moose be doing tomorrow? Why, thank you for asking. I will be continuing on the great house cleaning venture. Hubby moose’s best buddy is coming for a visit from Ohio in two weeks. So far the bathroom has had a thorough cleaning and the kitchen is just about finished. Next, the living room and then I will set up the roll-away bed and make his room ready.

Why, yes. I did say roll-away bed. While we love to have company, we try not to make this too comfortable. We have been taken advantage of in the past – an unannounced 30 day (THIRTY DAYS!!!! UNANNOUNCED!!!!) visit by kin of hubby moose comes to mind. 😉 So, a roll-away it is. And, it’s actually quite comfy, btw. He won’t be miserable or anything. lol

We’ll see how I’m feeling – may just jump on the motocycle and head out for a spin tomorrow.

We’ll see.

as mentioned in Lessa’s blog?(number 5 in the list)

We were driving through Anchorage – sitting at the light at Dimond (yes, that is how it is spelled – it is a man’s name) and Old Seward Highways – when we caught sight of Bill. We knew that was his name because of his sign. But before I could get the camera out he was off and panhandling a car in the near lane and in front of us.

So, the light changes and he heads back our way with the sign DOWN! Bill, show us your sign, I yelled and snapped as we moved – so it’s a bit blurry:

This is the shot I had thought to enter in Brookston’s Meat Challenge, but it was on the other computer and I hadn’t gotten it to this one yet, so went with the full on moose that “just happened” to cross by me as I was leaving work the other day. 😉 All of these shots were taken in Anchorage.

ahhhhhhhhhhhlaska!

Have a great weekend, everyone.
