Monthly Archives:November 2006

Someone at work placed it in my box. I looked it up on the Internet (I am the g-search queen, you see) and found it in several different formats.

This one appealed to me:

The Rules for Being Human

I guess it all comes down to this – for whom am I (are we) living my life (our lives)? How can we do a better job of it? How often do I need to read this to get it wedged firmly into my brainpan?

Someone told me today that I am worth it (listening to) – someone yesterday told me I deserved happiness – both comments made me (predictably) cry.

Go on and do likewise, my friends. Mean something to someone today.

and here we are – at the last day of NaBloPoMo – and at the last day of November. (funny how THAT worked out, eh, Moosie?)The last few weeks have been interesting ones at the moosie household. There has been some angst – some tears – some frustration – and, yes, even some joy.

hmmmm – sounds like a normal household on any give day, doesn’t it?

I think I am looking forward to tomorrow. Not just to say TGIF, but to say TGID (Thank God, it’s December!) Time to begin looking forward – working my way out of the muddle – going onward and growing upward – to a new me – toward a new year.

Wha? Nah, don’t fret and stew about it. Life goes on and so do we.

oh – I understand some folks are talking about continuing NaBloPoMo on into December. Sorry, folks, but you can count me out on that one. I’ll still be posting – and it just MIGHT be everyday. But I am NOT going to worry about it if I miss a day – right? right!

Happy last day of November, everyone. (We’re expecting a big snow storm today – upwards of 8 inches over the weekend. Yay!)

It is actually a quite lovely day today – lots of sun. In Alaska – in November – lots of sun genearlly means lots of C.O.L.D. But not this time. While it is a bit chillier than the last few days when we had cloud cover, it is not nearly as cold as it was the previous three weeks. It is still above zero and that is a very nice thing. No – I still haven’t zipped up my coat. Yes – I am still wearing just a fleece jacket – although I do wear a sweater under it most days. No – I have not broken out the boots yet. Yes, Lessa has (hahahaha). Hubby moose is still wearing his birks but he HAS put on fleece socks over his regular socks. (a small concession to the weather)

There has been a flurry of activity and emails from the writers group – regarding our annual (this will be the 10th!) writers night.

First everyone had to be polled to see if we really wanted to do it.

Then we had to decide on a location – it was pretty much hands down for the Triumvirate Theatre because they offered to let us do it there for free.

Then we had to decide on a date – which was dependent upon WHERE, you see. Sadly – for me – it will be on the Boy’s 15th birthday. (OMG!!! I canNOT believe he is going to be 15! That’s how old I was when I met hubby moose!) Anyway – because of that, I may or may not be involved in the festivities this year. And, that is okay with me. The Boy is much more important to me.

Day 29 of continuous posting – it is almost like “the good old days” when I used to be on the computer incessantly. Now I sometimes struggle to get the posts written in good time. But, here it is, here am I, and here are you.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

It snowed! Yesterday when we went to start our vehicles the weather had changed. It was a tad warmer – yes, friends, 15 ABOVE zero can feel mighty warm. And, about 2 inches of snow had fallen sometime in the night.

We wondered at work why the plow guy had not come. Oh, we had it all pretty well beaten down by the end of the day with our cars, but he has a contract and is supposed to come out for anything more than an inch. Not sure why he didn’t show up, but that is par for the course for the first real snow.

You see – if we don’t get it the first time, it’ll get cold again and then we have frozen ridges in the parking lot and that makes for rougher traverse.

Well – I received the first Christmas card yesterday! Oh, I got one from Ladybug and her family the week before Thanksgiving, but it was the 2005 letter. (Ladybug,  you should have saved postage and added THIS year’s letter – you have so much to share this year – and sent them both at the same time!)

Hubby has to go for jury duty this morning. Yay! Excitement! NOT!!!

Have not heard from anyone about Christmas cards. If you would like to receive a custom made card from the moose, drop me an email at prplmoose AT kenaiwriter DOT net – kay?

And, if anyone out there is of a mind to gift the moose, do me a favor, will you? Go on over to Lessa’s place and Chip In to the Boy’s Choir trip. I don’t need a thing at this stage of my life, you see. And, I would dearly love to see him get to take this trip.

It doesn’t have to be a lot – those dollars add up. I would be forever grateful – he would be, also. AND – you would get the added bonus of a postcard (after the fact) with a photo from the trip. Who doesn’t like postcards from Europe?

thanks, everyone. You’re all peaches in my book.

:moose:

the kids just came through the door and are putting in their breakfast orders with Paw-Paw Moosie. From the sounds of things out there I think he was thinking ahead of them and it may be French toast. Yum.

Okay – I have several of you on my address list – for post cards and such. But, tis the season, after all. I am preparing Christmas cards this week.

If you are not on my list – or would like to be sure you are  ON my list – please drop me an email at prplmoose AT kenaiwriter DOT net and I will get you into the book.

This year – another of my photos – one you haven’t seen. It was taken in August and I am planning to enter it into the Fur Rendevous Photo Contest. Last year all of my photos were selected for display, although none won ribbons or placques. I was just tickled they were placed on display – for TWO weeks – in a very busy mall in Anchorage.

And, because I entered once (yes, last year was my first time ever to show off my work) I received an entry form IN THE MAIL! How special am I – I am now on THEIR mailing list. heh.

You all have a wonderful Monday. I am off to the front room to visit with the grandyounguns – and to see if there is any French toast left for Nana Moosie.
