they say you can’t teach ’em new tricks . . .
they forgot to say that math bites!
😉
cryptic, huh?

thanks, Marcia for commenting on the big moose. As promised, here are a couple more pictures of the fella for you all to enjoy:

Hubby is 6’2″ and I’m a (shrinking) 5’3″ or so . . . yon moose is 10 or 12 foot we’re guessing. But, no, we didn’t take a tape measure.

Looks like the artist is still working on it. There are pieces of metal lying on the ground and a ladder of some sort lying underneath the big guy.

Our little campus is growing up – it started with one building, grew to two and is growing at an exponential rate now.

Hope you all enjoyed your extra day off work. I vegged pretty completely. We only went out of the house a couple of times – once to get some lunch (and take some pictures) and later hubby and I took a walk around the neighborhoods. Hubby also mowed the grass for the first time this year. I suggested watering it, but he said something like “that would just make it grow” – he IS a punny fellow, that one.

All right, my friends – this has been a long year for Ms. Shelly, she of great passion and even greater heart. Her dream originally was to bathe campers – who have been battling great things in their lives – with some love and cover them with home-made afghans.

She put out her desire onto the internet and asked crocheters from around the internet (which spans around the globe!) for 6 inch squares that would be put into afghans for the youngsters. Next came a plea for crocheters to edge the squares and join them into the afghans.

Her dream grew – wouldn’t it be cool to enclose bags for the tags that were on each individual square – (48 tags per afghan) 140 afghans needed bags. Yellow Rose and I would be working on collecting 70 bags each.

It’s time for an update and followup request. I have 48 bags in my possession currently. I’ve gone through my emails and I think there may have been a few more promised but haven’t been received yet. (it gets a bit difficult because we all have our online personas and our real life names – and a purple moose can sometimes be easily confused, you see.)

So, here is my request – I need 22 bags to hold up my end of the deal. If you have it in your heart and have not yet contributed, now is your chance. Email me (prplmoose AT kenaiwriter DOT net) and let me know if you are able to help out.

Shelly is checking on the time when we might be able to deliver the afghans – and that will determine the absolute latest time we can gather the bags to get them to Shelly to get them placed with the afghans to get them delivered to the camp.

See how small ideas snowball?

Shelly also had an idea to raise funds to send some of the kids to camp for free. While the funds raised will not do all that, with your help a tidy little sum was raised. Thanks to all who helped out.

Wanna see the bags received so far?

Ladybug crossing under the Finish LineOkay – I’m not sure why the picture isn’t showing up – I’ll try to get it in here later . . . BUT . . .! – fixed. ~L

The woman is amazing! The official times are up on the website, although not in the easily searchable format (yet) of former years. So, it took me awhile to suss her name out from all those names.

Age group: 28th place!!
Overall: 204205th place!!

people – there were 1400women registered (eta 1300 competed) in this race! She got 204205th!

nah, no pride here, right? She worked hard and she did well. I am ever so proud.

splits:
Swim 7:38 7:30- 65th 63rdplace
Bike 36:31 – 206th place
Run 37:41 – 344th place
