thoughtless

Moody Monday Photo Challenge

Don’t think you can get much more thoughtless . . . mindless . . . than the “electronic income reducer” as a business associate calls it.

effect was pretty easily accomplished – I held the button down while moving the camera quickly back and forth.

eaglebluff

Took this the other day on the bluff overlooking the mouth of the Kenai River. I had been sitting and reading – just vegging away from the office – when motion caught my eye. Grabbed the camera and tried to get some closeups of two golden eagles. They weren’t too cooperative and this is the best I could do – knew they wouldn’t stick around if I walked up to them and besides . . . that is the edge of the bluff right there and it is unstable. I don’t intend to fall. 😉

eagletree

In this shot, one of the eagles is sitting in the tree – that is the blob you see on the right side, down about half way. What was so funny to me is all of the ravens which decided to sit in the tree with the eagle. Also note the red sign to the side of the tree telling us to stay back away from the edge of the bluff.

Not sure how goldens react to other birds – this is actually the first time I’ve gotten to watch any at all.

Bald eagles, on the other hand, are funny creatures – they will allow (smaller) sea gulls/terns to steal their food – dive bomb them and stress them out. Pretty interesting to watch.

Another first for me last week . . . hubby and I were driving home from the Ladybug’s house when I saw two bald eagles in a “death spiral”. It’s part of their mating ritual – these were locked together high in the air and fell straight downward in a spiral until just above a friend’s house. They unlocked talons and flew off in separate directions.

I was in awe. I’ve lived here for 28 years and this is the first time I have seen this ritual. I’m honored to have witnessed it.

4/4/06

The Lens Day Challenge for this week is Furry.

Hubby has long (gray) hair. His hair is longer and grayer than my own, btw. This is what I see each morning when I get ready to brush my hair. No, I do NOT use his brush. Yes, he cleans up his own. ;-)

and so very little time. Age old lament, but true nonetheless. I can see I am going to miss my Fridays off over the next few months. I will be working them all through the greatest motorcycle riding time of the year! But the tradeoff is a little nicer paycheck, so the moosie will please stop her complaining right now! 😉

Lessa is in Anchorage taking her state insurance licensing exams (life and health). I should hear from her in the next hour or so telling me (what else?) that she has passed both with flying colors! Atsa my girl.

Also deserving some attagirls is the Ladybug! She has lost 30 pounds! You go, girl of mine. Puts me to shame, she does.

On the exhaustion front . . . . beginning to feel better – not so drained. Although I am a wee bit tired at the moment. The thing is I really shouldn’t complain at all. I am reasonably healthy. I know some folks who are battling cancer and other diseases. My life is pretty darned good, now wouldn’ you agree?

Our receptionist gave notice yesterday. Sigh! I will soon be (hopefully soon – cause I know WHO will be doing the job in the meantime!) training my fourth receptionist since I started working there. I celebrate 4 years on July 2.  This last one has been there for going on three years. She’s leaving us for a state job – better benefits, although a bit less money. For her sake I hope it all works out. For my sake I hope my boss finds a good one in a hurry.

Have been writing, writing, writing. No, not here. My muse has been uncorked from her bottle and like the magic genie that she is, has been giving me thoughts to put onto paper. I am thankful she remembered her way home. And, it has been fun to attend the last two Writers Group meetings – it’s been several months since I’ve been able to get to one. Some new faces – and some of the same old faces. But, good to read in front of others and to get good feedback.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Mr. Moose and Lessa should be getting home tonight and then we will be back into the swing of things on our (too) busy weekend.
