To labor or not to labor . . . that is the question. Hubby and I decided yesterday that we would not be laboring – although the house could sure use it . . . our thoughts went a different direction.

kachemaklookers We grabbed the two youngest grands and drove to Homer . . . Day Trip! The littles kept us entertained with songs and chatter and “counting” things (boats, trailers, motorcycles, etc.) on the way down.

Then we stopped at the overlook just before heading down into town. This way the younguns (and the olduns) could take a rest break and all legs could be stretched a bit.

After that the fun began. We stopped at Two Sisters for fresh, still warm bread (and cookies for after lunch). The workers suggested Finn’s on the Homer Spit for “the best pizza in Homer” and who could pass that up? We ordered our pie then went upstairs to an enclosed room looking over the beach – warmed by the pizza ovens – and by the several tables full of folks also enjoying scenery and pizza. If you like wood-fired pizza – and good, old fashioned (greasy) pepperoini pizza – Finn’s is your place. It’s seasonal, though, and we caught it on one of its last open days.

2onthebeach The tummies now full, we loaded back up in the car and went further to the End of the Road so we could check out the beach. We watched gulls diving for fish (and catching them practically while on wing). We watched people fishing and boats going into and out of the harbor. We picked up lots of shells and pretty rocks . . . and feathers, too. We absorbed as much fresh salt air as we could.

Once it appeared the kiddos were tiring out we decided to head home . . . after a stop at the Alaska Wild Berry Products’ original location for “something special”.

Grandpa and I had a great time – the kiddos were extremely well behaved and so much fun. They were the last of the seven not to have a special day with us. Well, any time we spend with any of them is special . . . but they had not gotten to take a day trip with us yet – it was their turn . . . and OUR delight.

Ahhhhh – and, now . . . back to work.
🙂

Please come to order – class is now in session . . . .

Giving Hubby Moose a tutorial on how to use excel. Life is “good”.

eta – good times – not so much. Hubby is home schooled in data entry and is having trouble grasping formulas(ae?). Of course, when the option comes up to correct something he says that is not the way to do it.

Heh – someone hold me. ;/

. . . share a bit of yourself? Hmmmmm?

This is the project of a fellow raveler . . . her thought is to send some sort of knitted/crocheted/sewn gift to a project in each of the 50 states. From her blog . . .

Project # 1:
Our 50 states tour begins in the beautiful state of Oregon. We will be making hats and slippers for Veterans at the Southern Oregon – White City Rehabilitation Center.

I think it’s a great idea – I’ve already joined and plan to make some hats for the Oregon project. I’ve also suggested an Alaska project, which I hope will be accepted. (If it is, I’ll post it at the appropriate time).

In the meantime . . . If you’d like to join in the project, check out the blog and sign up. How much fun is that, right?
