The editors at Trifecta have asked us to introduce ourselves by answering a few questions. Here are my answers. (I did try to hold my snark at bay)
What is your name (real or otherwise)? Today it is Barbara, aka PurpleMoose. I have been called Barbie, sweetie, Mommy/Mom/MOTHER, Gramma and Nana. I am loved by many names
Describe your writing style in three words. Gramma-style, Quick-witted, Old-fashioned
How long have you been writing online? Hmmm – since the internet was invented 🙂
Which, if any, other writing challenges do you participate in? 100 Words by Velvet Verbosity (whom I miss). I also participate in the local Writers Present each year.
Describe one way in which you could improve your writing. I think I am sometimes way too literal, but am trying to get over myself.
What is the best writing advice you’ve ever been given? Keep writing – don’t give up
Who is your favorite author? Whichever one I am reading at the present. I love books – period.
How do you make time to write? I don’t do housework. Ha ha
Give us one word we should consider using as a prompt. ungulate
Direct us to one blog post of yours that we shouldn’t miss reading. Hmmmmm – I sometimes write ‘em and then forget ‘em. I love to tell people about Alaska living, maybe you will get a bit of sense of who I am by reading this one: Starvation
Tough to write about myself, but thanks for asking.
At least you admit that you don’t do housework.
It’s nice to meet you.
I wasn’t able to reign in the snark, but you did great:) I loved Starvation. AND you made me Google two words. Impressive.
“Whichever one I am reading at the present.”
I almost said that. I totally almost said that!
Looks like you and I have the same reason for being free to write. Housework be damned!
I love the word ungulate–have loved it ever since learning it in my Wildlife Management class I took in undergrad. (No, seriously.) Unfortunately, it is lacking a third definition. Maybe we can work it into our weekend challenge somehow. Thanks for sharing. Off to read Starvation.
Oh, I should’ve mentioned that I majored in English and sociology. I don’t know a damn thing about how to manage wildlife. I don’t even know why they’d need management. But the course was a very, very interesting one. It was just basic zoology. I imagine the rest of the class went on to work at zoos. I went on to. . .become a social worker. Same thing.
Hi Barbara…I miss you and velvet
Count me as another person who had to look up ungulate.
Thanks for sharing Starvation, I can imagine how shocking and fantastic it must be to see bright yellow after a long, monotonous winter of white.
The second word I Googled was ptarmigan. I think I might have a handle on snark. Heh.
I loved the expression “I am loved by many names”. 🙂 I’m glad to read I’m not the only one who struggles with being too literal. Nice to meet you!
Love getting to know you better. This is a really fun meme!
I never really thought about not doing housework to do some writing, but I think maybe tonights dishes can wait til tomorrow. I have been inspired. Nice to meet you 😛
