December 2011: my once a year update
Ahem! Me-me-me-me . . .times 100
- I live in Alaska
- But I was born in Columbus Ohio
- that seems like a really long time to me
- and a really short time as well
- I have a younger sister
- She likes to think she is TWO years younger
- But she is only 14 months younger
- I put her picture in the paper for her 50th birthday.
- Not sure she’s forgiven me for that
- ~ @ ~ @ ~ @ ~
- I’m a NUT
- Not certifiably, but close enough for government work
- I was raised Catholic
- 12 years of Catholic school
- and lived to tell about it
- my dad was a drunk
- he beat my mom
- in front of me and my sister
- we escaped when I was 12
- it was ugly, but we survived
- ~ @ ~ @ ~ @ ~
- I married my high school sweetheart 11 months after we graduated
- First we dated off and on for 4 years
- Our 43rd anniversary will be May 10, 2012
- We have two daughters
- We have 8 grandchildren
- But one of them lives in Heaven now
- I love being a gramma
- I used to ride motorcycles
- I sold two Yamaha Viragos, a 750 and an 1100
- no longer a Yamaha Gramma
- I miss riding – but there are reasons I cannot
- ~ @ ~ @ ~ @ ~
- I would rather make people laugh than cry
- But do a little of both, sometimes
- People sometimes hurt my feelings
- Or make me angry
- But I never tell them about either
- My mom used to say I wore my heart on my sleeve
- I think she was a wise woman
- I have her photo on a shelf in my room
- When I am skinny I look just like her
- But not right now
- ~ @ ~ @ ~ @ ~
- my daughters look like me
- which, I think, is a good thing
- my grands look like me, too
- and I LOVE that
- my legacy to them is in the form of apple cheeks and big blue eyes
- my legacy to my daughters also includes my hips – heh!
- I am built for comfort
- I have been online since 1997
- And have a lot of neat friends because of it
- But have met some real stinkers along the way, too
- ~ @ ~ @ ~ @ ~
- if you are reading this, you are probably not one of the stinkers
- our family owned and operated a small print shop for over 20 years
- we sold it a few years ago
- I work at a local women’s crisis shelter
- I love my job
- some days more than others
- I love the paycheck, too
- It gives me a sense of validation, that paycheck
- I worked for free at our print shop
- Being paid is much nicer – heh!
- ~ @ ~ @ ~ @ ~
- I like to write
- Poetry and essays
- Gramma type essays
- I have some talent – or so they say
- Validation comes in the form of published pieces
- I have had a few of those
- but a by-line is my usual pay
- or a tee-shirt – although the local paper once paid me $20 for a book review!
- I’ve been published in several issues of Alaska Women Speak
- the fall 2011 issue featured one – AND – pictures I took, too
- ~ @ ~ @ ~ @ ~
- Did I tell you that I was going to be a nun?
- I like sex better than abstinence, though
- But I got abstinence anyway
- TMI???
- My daughters may read this and that is a bit weird
- My sister and niece, too, and that is also weird
- Hubby’s niece may read it – ah well
- And YOU are reading it – and you know who you are
- Hopefully my coworkers WON’T read it
- Don’t wanna be “dooced”, you see
- ~ @ ~ @ ~ @ ~
- I have cut my hair for Locks of Love twice.
- It is just about shoulder length right now
- I massage my head when I shower – to encourage the hair to grow
- Not sure if it is working or not – but will keep on doing it
- I really like therapeutic massages
- Feels so good when he quits!
- My hair has a lot of gray in it
- It’s getting a little fine for my taste, too
- It’s always been “baby fine”
- But now it’s baby fine and gray – Sigh!
- ~ @ ~ @ ~ @ ~
- there are a lot of things I COULD tell you
- but not here and now – they would really be TMI
- at least in my mind
- I have a beautiful mind, if you don’t mind, thank you very much
- 😉 I love chocolate – but you know that if you read me
- I love the color purple – and the movie is a favorite, too
- I have several purple moose surrounding me
- They sit alongside a shelf full of varicolored moose
- Or drive along next to me in the car
- My daughter is a digital diva – but not a “Digital Diva”
- ~ @ ~ @ ~ @ ~
- THERE!! 100 + who’da thunk it?
- And there are LOTS of things I did NOT tell you
- Remember all those eyes peeking in?
- Yup, that’s why
- But if you REALLY wanna know
- Come to Alaska and ask
Kiss the Moose >..<
