Busy week soon done
Retreat coming into view
Alaska calls me

It’s Haiku Friday with Lou.

times two. It has been awhile since I’ve had a full day off (Sunday the 23rd, in fact). I work in an agency as . . . well, I wear several hats. Under one of those hats I get to go into the community to make appropriate presentations. Last Saturday I got to speak with a group of “roller girls” before their bout. Sunday I visited a church in the neighboring town to talk with some of their folks.

Monday began our weeklong workshop – you guessed it – I’m the facilitator and play a major part in it. Add to that we are starting a new reporting quarter, which means that I have quarterly and monthly reports to prepare for the previous quarter – preferably by today. heh

The boss will be gone most of the next two weeks which leaves me minimally in charge.

Sometimes I just take on too much. What to do with myself???? (especially since I preach good self-care to those who come to this workshop?)

Breathe in – breathe out – accept the loving prayers of friends – smile at the world – put one step in front of the other. . .

and leave early today . . . head to Homer . . . go on retreat until Sunday. What a blessing in timing that I will get to spend time with loved sisters in one of southcentral Alaska’s prettiest places. I am greatly looking forward to it.

There will be no posting for Trifecta, or 100 Words, or maybe even 100 Word Song. You will understand, I’m sure. This is just me – being open – sharing – and going.

See you soon.

Drips and drops add up
Rising creeks kiss banks goodbye
Rain obliterates
————————–

Alaska’s SouthCentral region has been deluged with rain this week. We are okay here in PM land, but other places are not so lucky. Look at what is going on in Seward and tell me if YOU want to be that CAT driver? Yeah, me neither.

This Friday Haiku came pretty naturally as a result.

September 19, 1978 Hubbymoose, 8 year old Lessa, 3 year old Dragonfly, and I pulled up roots in Ohio and settled into our new life in Kenai, Alaska. Today we have been here 34 years and our roots have settled deep. Added to the family over the years were 3 sons-in-law and 8 grandbabies. We have seen love and loss and friendships and grief here in this Great Land.

We’ve been
– small business owners
– have run for local office
– been bench sitters for both daughters and their progeny
– volunteers for different projects
– motorcyclists and
– Lions

We’ve grown both inwardly and outwardly.

We are where we’re supposed to be.

This is NOT an entry to any of the prompts I usually post to . . . this is me being personal and thankful. I’m proud to be an Alaskan and I’m thankful she has adopted me into her family.

Autumn approaches
Termination dust settles
Time to hibernate
————————————

Time for Friday Haiku with Lou. I put a link to a picture printed by a local newspaper story about Termination Dust – surprised I don’t have any pics at hand to show you. Will have to remedy that soon . . . well, as soon as I replace my camera. However we look at it, winter is fast approaching Kenai . . . the fireweed topped out a week or so ago and the air has a decided bite to it. We’re skipping past summer right into pre-winter.

Ahhhhhhhlaska – I love you, I do.
