Category Archive:WOW!

Awhile back I wrote about the blessing of being footloose and cancer free. Today I can write about how my doctors hate me/love me.

No, they really LOVE me! It’s just that some might think a person hates you if he tells you to go on, get out and get on with your life. But to me, that just rings of TRUE LOVE.

And, that is what I heard Monday from my internist. Yeah, I never had an internist before, either. Not until January 20th when I had that pesky little heart attack thing going on. Now I have an internist (or two or three) and a cardiologist – in addition to my urologist from the kidney cancer thang.

And, the all just LOVE me! I am good to go. I am to get out and get on with my life. They are shaking their heads and just saying hmmmmm.

Hmmmm as in – you are now cancer free – come back in six months (instead of the originally planned 3 months).

Hmmmm as in – your bloodwork is FANTASTIQUE! – get outta here – you don’t hafta come back for a YEAR!

Whoot! Just makes this old moosie’s heart go beating on its merry little way.

Oh! and my numbers from that pesky little lipid panel they made me go through? Check out these babies!

Cholesterol = 137
HDL = 52
LDL = 68
Triglycerides = 85

Do you wonder why my doctors all love me? I am in GREAT shape for the shape that I’m in – disgustingly healthy. And, it is SO nice to leave them wondering, you know? yeah!

This week’s Thursday photo theme is Autumn/Fall.

These pics were taken last Saturday along the banks of Moose River. (Now, just how appropriate is THAT?) I was out trolling for good fall shots and stopped at the Izaak Walton campground in Sterling for these.

Peaceful comes to mind.

This is just RIGHT UP YOUR ALLEY, my girl!!! Thanks to Angela at Fluid Pudding for the link . . .

are you ready for this?

No, I mean are you REALLY ready for this?

(more…)

Okay – generally when we see a boat being towed down the highway – the boat is the biggest thing we see. I have had to pull over to the side of the road sometimes in order for a BIG boat to make its way past me on the two-lane.

That was not the case tonight as I headed to the neighboring town for a class.

This is what turned out in front of me (and slowed me down – but slow was good as I was able to get the camera out of the case and focused in on the motor pushing the boat and car ahead of me.

Even more fun? the oncoming van looks exactly like the one Mr. Moose drives! Only, he was at home snoozing in his chair at that time. 😉 There are at least two other vans that look just like his – and I often get surprised return waves – from people I do NOT know and who have NO clue why I might be waving at them.

Hubby says that the size of the motor is something we are going to be seeing more of as the fins and feathers folks have decided to limit the size of motors on the Kenai River next year.  We’ll no longer be able to run our 2 stroke (I dunno – I think that’s what he said) on the river next year – and the newer one costs WAY more than we have available to spend.

Sigh!

Still, it was a funny sight – that sure looks like a whole lot more motor than that boat needs.

I got it – the promotion, that is. And, contrary to my faulty belief – if we are able to get COLAs this year (we are a non-profit, so it depends on grants and such) I will not have to wait a full year – I will still be in line to receive one with my first check in August! A raise on top of a raise! That is just way too cool for me.

My boss and I spent some time today in my new office – until she got frustrated with how the files were left by the previous tenant. So, she sent me back to my smaller cave and we will try again tomorrow. She spent several hours putting the files into proper shape.

I can’t understand some folks – really.

But – that is all behind us, right? I am nervous. This job has a WHOLE LOT more responsibility – and I will be continuing doing the things I’ve been doing for the past 5 years – so I am going to be one busy puppy, I’ll tell ya!

That’s okay – that’s what keeps me young, right? right!

So – cautiously dancing on my cloud nine tonight. What’s up with all of you?
