Daughter called last night after leaving our house and asked – do you see what I see? Your snowman collapsed – check it out and see if you see what I do . . . .

hmmmmm – maybe, just maybe I do. How about you?

are we . . . NOT! But now the song is stuck in my head.

Walmart People we are! And NO denying that we are related, either.

🙂

Up early to meet hubbymoose for breakfast – got him to bed (he worked all night) and then went to get my hair cut. Lovely visit with Ms. R who does my hair and then back home to quietly ponder what to do – what to do.

Text from lessa . . . she and daughter were headed to the Funky Monkey for NANO – did I want to come? My mission (should I decide to accept) would be to distract said daughter so lessa could get ahead of her in their NANO competion. Coffee would be waiting for me.

How could I say no to such a challenge? You’re right – I couldn’t.

Loaded up my computer – no, not doing NANO, but would be playing whilst they wrote. As I was loading up I got another text – the peeps at Funky Monkey want to know if YOU are wearing your hat, too. Sigh – trudge back into the house (trying not to wake up hubbymoose) to get hat and head off to da monkey.

There was some jostling of seats as we were all facing a very bright sun – but we got that settled – AFTER spilling the aforementioned coffee. Sigh – spill cleaned up and this is what people see when they enter the coffee house this morning:

Cute, huh? And . . . how’m I doing so far in distracting? Not too badly, friends – not too badly.

Speaking of distracting – this pic was taken during our first snow last week – young woman lives next door to us – only in Alaska, friends, only in Alaska.

So . . . how is YOUR Saturday going?

So, today already seems like a very bad Monday – and I’ve not even gotten fully dressed yet.

It started with a phone call about 1:30 this morning. Mind you, I generally get up at 4:45 am so was not happy to lose some of those precious minutes.

The caller was from work – my boss has been gone for the past couple of weeks – won’t be in until Monday. In her absence I get the late night calls. This one necessitated my getting up, throwing on my exercise pants (closest to me at the time), putting on shoes and climbing into my car to drive a few miles across town.

We’d had a power outage sometime in the night and an alarm at one of the buildings had generated a security call – we were pretty sure it was just that power up was causing it, but SOMEONE (read, ME) had to check it out. The building was dark, meaning the residents were sleeping soundly – there was no audible alarm – so I called my original caller and got a couple of phone numbers to make a couple more calls – drove back to the next building (also dark) and deemed it safe to come back home.

I crawled into bed nearly an hour after the original call. Sigh.

Didn’t change the alarm on my cell phone – so it went off promptly at 4:45. I groggily reached for it . . . and it fell through the space between bed and headboard, to the floor.

I tried to get it and my knee collapsed, causing me to fall to the floor – BETWEEN the bed and the baseboard metal covering the hot water pipes . . . HOT!!! OUCHIES!!! Oh, and the lamp on the side table? Fell onto my back!

My knee wouldn’t cooperate in my jumping to my feet (not to mention I still have weight to lose AND I’m not a spring chicken anymore) so I SCOOTED to the end of the bed, while poor hubbymoose (bleary eyed himself) watched helplessly. He had gotten the lamp off me and back onto the table, then had to wait for me to get up myself.

I lumbered oh, so gracefully (NOT!!!) to my feet and limped to the front room. My knee seems okay, but I apparently pulled the muscles below and behind it. Sigh. Add to that, my right thigh was quite warm, but not burnt, from the hot heater covering.

So, no biking today. 🙁

But a great story! 🙂

Hope your day is going better.

Caffeine! The first vice to go. I miss coffee so much: dark, rich, Brazilian blends. I don’t miss heart palpitations or sour stomach, but the thought of coffee – the first cup of it each morning.

One last smoke, before I go in. They want me to quit this too, but, dagnabbit! It’s all I’ve got left.

Stubbing out the cigarette, Jim grabbed his water bottle and popped a blue before climbing out of his ancient car. Running his hand through thinning hair he climbed the steps and opened the door and was greeted by Jessica.

What’s your pleasure tonight, sir?
