fruity-licious
Look at those darling, fruity hats. Kristin from Columbus Ohio (my youthful stomping grounds) shipped these up on the purple and orange truck system. 😉
Many thanks – your headbands will warm some teen/adult ears this winter. And, I love, love, LOVE the fruity hats. Ever so cute in cotton. And the magical slippers are tres chic! I put my hand into one to see how they work – stretch-ilicious! Thanks so much.

Then, on the way to an evening presentation I stopped by my mailbox and found two packages:
carolynm
The first held gorgeously done mittens by Carolyn from Oklahoma. Carolyn and I have decided that we might be long lost cousins – her name and my maiden name are different by only one letter. Ahh those Irish lads! Thanks, Carolyn.

The second package came from Carol in HAWAII!!! Yeah, I sooooo wanna go back there some day.
hularac
This hat and the mittens are a beautiful shade of purple – and very warm. Now, lest you wonder why there might be woolen yarns and woolen needs in Hawaii, Carol reminds me:
. . . actually there is some need for mittens in Hawaii. A wet, real windy few days are forecast, with snow for the peaks of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. They actually have skiing there!

I always forget about the skiing in Hawaii of the mountain variety.

Thanks so much everyone! We are expecting a few more deliveries over the next couple of weeks. I will be delivering everything the first week of December and will post about the delivery when it happens.

You are all AWESOME!!!

Holy frijoles, people . . . it is COLD out there. -11 when I got up this morning – hubby started my car for me, despite our having an auto-start. He wanted to make sure it stayed running longer than the 15 minutes the auto-start allows.

When I tried to leave for lunch this afternoon, however, the car would NOT start. Had to call hubby and ask him to bring an extension cord so I could plug in the car’s block heater. Started up just fine after work, thanks to the plug-in. I am grateful that he also brought me something to fix for lunch. 😉

When I arrived home and checked the mail I was tickled to find two packages for Sharing our Gifts!

Thanks go out to Sinclair for her two gorgeous hats:
sinclair

and Margaretg for a beautifully ribbed hat and mittens:
margaretq

There are more in transit and I am thrilled each time I open the mail box. Thanks to all who are participating.
I’m going to need to get a bigger box. 😉

paula This trio of sweet little hats arrived yesterday from Paula – you can learn more about Paula at her blog: On a Rainy Night.

There are more hats and mittens on their way – I will post pictures of them as they arrive. Everyone’s support for the project has been amazing.

Miss Shelly over at This Eclectic Life highlighted the project on her Only the Good Friday piece this week.

And, so the big hearts of the world-wide interwebs (as my daughter calls it) continue to expand a wee bit more to include people from all over.

I’d just like to add my heartfelt thanks to all of you!

We’re beginning to receive items for the current Sharing our gifts project. This brainchild of Sinclair’s – to do a knit/crochet project in each of the states – is taking off in a good way. If you’d like to help in this or any of the future projects I strongly encourage you to do so. It is so much fun to bring smiles to faces in such a tangible manner.

Thanks, everyone! Check out the goodies we have to date . . .

Received a pair of child’s mittens today. Thanks, Laura!

Just back from my “every six weeks” appointment with my hairdresser. We are counting down the days to my 60th birthday . . . my next appointment with her will be my last as a 59 year old. 😉 Our conversation, of course, went to how can we change it up a bit to celebrate the big SIX OH?

I have a lot of hair – according to Ms. R – but the one troubling aspect of it is that it is very, very, VERY fine. So, layers are out really . . . unless I want to spend time with lots of product to make it stand up, curl up, lie in a certain way, etc.

Yeah, I’m not one to take a lot of time with my hair – neither is my hairdresser (with her own – she tells me she doesn’t even use mousse on her hair). We are blow it dry and head out the door type gals.

So, I am pretty much “stuck” with a bob-type do . . . bangs to cover the high forehead, etc. This time she did cut the back a bit shorter than the sides, giving it a newer bobbed look. 😉

Thing is . . . I fully trust her with my hair. She has the freedom to cut it in whichever way she thinks will work best for my hair and my lifestyle.

Thanks, Ms. R!!!! I appreciate you muchly.
