if this were your daughter? Or if this were your son?

Yesterday I learned of a 12 year old sixth grader in a nearby school who received flowers for Valentine’s day while at school.

nice, right?

She thought so, too, and spent the next several periods showing them off and telling everyone who would listen where she had gotten them – and who had given them to her.

He’s a junior at the school next door! A junior! That makes him at LEAST sixteen years old, and probably seventeen years old. He is at least four years older than she – most likely five years older.

What is her mother thinking? What is this boy thinking? No, don’t answer that last question because, while I am much older, I still remember and can figure what he is thinking.

I wish I could look him in the eye and tell him one thing: son, if that IS what you are thinking – and if you are DOING what you are thinking – you need to know this – it is a jailable offense!

Now, get your head out of your pants and date girls your own age.

At least until she is 18 and can make up her own mind about how old her date is.

I have my computer back.

They said there was NO problem.

I think she just wanted to visit her maker.

Right, Lessa?

Today is our youngest grandson’s third birthday! His third!!! We officially no longer have grandBABIES – he’s the last – certainly not the least – and for today he is the cutest, bestest, sweetest, darlingest grandbaby that we have.

Happy Birthday, darlin”! Nana loves you.

nope – not a typo . . . Valentine’s Day has gotten so way out of control – way beyond what it was started to be – it has been taken over by the H’mark folks and the ad agencies and the newspapers . . . case in point – this morning the local rag had a page full of v-day greetings . . . from people to their PETS! for heaven’s sake!

Folks, I know I am NOT an animal person. I like them as long as they belong to someone else – I REALLY like to be able to get up and go without having to worry about what to do with fido or princess – who will feed them – who will water them – who will shovel their piles of love?

But, even if I were an animal person, they would NOT be getting a v-day greeting from me in the local rag – to the tune of $50 or so . . . I don’t even spend that on my hubby. (he agrees with me that it is a made up holiday – erm, maybe it began when I agreed with HIM that it was a made up holiday – well, whatever) We sort of agree to agree that the cards and flowers and chocolates (wait! he can give me CHOCOLATES! what was I thinking?!) are not necessary. We’ve been together a good long time and we tolerate – that is, we love each other still.

CHOCOLATES ARE OKAY!!! bring ’em on. Heh

I just spent two hours at my dentist – teeth are nice and shiny and squeaky clean – bring on the choccies, baby. 😛

actually . . . a really nice v-day surprise would be my computer home and on my desk! Talked with the techs a bit ago – it is now on the bench (ooh baby – shine those lights) and has not missed a beat since they started her up! Wha???? Okay, fine then. Lessa was right when she said that maybe she just needed to visit the techs. The major tech, Chuckles, said that she is showing them the love! Harumph! I want the love!

😛 :moose:

I miss my computer.

My hubby is sweet – he lets me use his to check email and such.

It’s not the same as having my own.

My baby is still sitting on the floor at the computer hospital and won’t even make it to the counter until tomorrow (at the earliest) or Wednesday.

wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

sniff

ah well, enjoy, everyone! I’ll be back again soon. (I hope)
