phyllisbday.JPG?? Today is Phyllis’ birthday! Hoo-rah! And a happy one to you, gal.

Hubby and I are getting ready for a 2 day road trip to Anchorage. We’ll be leaving right after breakfast in the morning, pick up someone in Sterling on the way out of town and then boogey on. Look for photos.

If you check out the Flickr bar there on the right you will see some pics from today – I was chasing the sunrise, trying to find a place to get a really good view of that red coming over the mountains. Sigh! It was not to be – lots of trees and such kept getting in my way. so I came back to hubby’s shop building and turned to see those pink clouds in the sky. Out came the gray box again.

Then, a bit later while we were having a training meeting someone looked up and said “oh, look there’s a little moose.” That was all it took – out the door I went yet again, with gray box in tow, and positioned myself between my car and another to get the moose shots. Only after I got there and was snapping away did I pause to wonder “where is mama moose?” Not sure, but at least I made it back to the office without a confrontation with a much bigger animal.

After our training we drove to Soldotna to see someone at a gallery there. I needed some pieces to be shrink-wrapped. Gulped a bit at the quoted price, but told the guy to go ahead and asked if he could do them while we waited. Erm, no. Couldn’t be done.

He didn’t get the $40 (to shrink wrap FOUR pieces, mind you!) and we left. I told hubby “we’ll go see B, then” and go we did. No price was discussed, although he did look it up on the computer before he started. I was willing to pay the price, because he said it was no problem to do them while we waited.

Of course, you KNOW that he got busy the minute he began. How frustrating to pick up the job, work on it a bit, only to have to set it down again. And, the machine wasn’t cooperating, either.

So, we left him to it and went to get lunch – then I got my hair cut and hubby got his beard trimmed before we went back. Do you know . . . . B would NOT charge me. What a very nice thing to do. Also a good way to get my return business!

The pieces? Prints of four of my photos – to be taken to Anchorage and entered into the Fur Rendevous Amateur Photo Contest. “something to mark off your list?” I’ve been asked several times. I don’t really have a list of the things I want to do before I die. But, yes, this would be on it, I think. So – check!

anyway – we should be home sometime Monday evening. Until then you all have a great time.
