Thatsamahgorlie! She was all teeth and shivers when she crossed the finish line today. We have no clue what her time was – just that, OMG! that woman is FAST in the pool!!!

She had staff from the Anchorage newspaper there completing an interview begun last week and taking photos – of her – of her hubby – and of me – as she swam, left on the bike leg, and came across the Finish line.

It was a gloriously sunny and HOT day – well, hot for us Alaskans, that is – and what a great job the producers of the Gold Nugget Triathlon did!

Congrats, Ladybug! I am EVER so proud of you and your accomplishments!

So – in a couple of hours I am headed off for the big city – going to spend the night and then bright and early tomorrow morning will catch the shuttle to go and watch #443 compete in her first triathlon. Yup, the Ladybug is doing it!
She has worked so hard for it over the past 9 months – she has lost 83 pounds – she has gottern herself into tip-top shape – and she is a WINNER! in my book – no matter the outcome.

I trained for 10ks when I was her age – I NEVER even thought to try a tri. I’m proud of her.

Pics will be forthcoming.

You all have a wonderful weekend!

to make the cashier look at you just a wee bit funny!
😉

Drove over to Soldotna Tuesday to buy a new bathing suit – it is amazing how quickly the chlorine wears out suits, btw!

What with the price of gas and such, it was only a GREAT deal (50% off) that would have me making an extra trip to the next town (24 miles is 24 miles after all – round trip, that is). And, it was only that great deal – in the week prior to payday – that would have me robbing the Hawaii fund to purchase the suit.

I’ve mentioned before that I save my change, roll it and take it to the bank to put it into a special HAWAII FUND for the trip I am planning to make the year I turn 60 (and it is closing in quickly, I might add!) About 6 months after I began saving change I started adding folding money also – saving ones and sometimes fives.

So, I grabbed all the folding money before heading off to Soldotna.

Can you imagine – oh, please do – the look on the cashier’s face when I handed her the suit, watched her ring it up, then handed her a (nicely folded) wad of ones?!!? It was priceless!

She acted like she could hardly bring herself to TOUCH the bills, let alone count them out – even though I counted them right in front of her and had stacked them neatly into piles of ten – she watched me handle them, but could barely contain the snarl of her lips as she picked them up to count them herself.
😉
I just know – and Ladybug even laughed with me this morning as I modeled the new suit and told the tale – that the poor cashier was thinking – “OMG! She’s pretty old to be stripping!”

LOL – honey-chile, that’s not the ONLY way to get one dollar bills! (I’ll let Ladybug tell you what SHE thought the cashier might have been thinking.)

Priceless, I tell you, priceless! I love living in a small town.

We had a nice and relaxing time in Homer for our anniversary. Watched two of the grand-younguns swim in their last meet of the year – I was supposed to help time, but the pool area was so HOT that I got very woozy. I spent most of the meet out in the outer area where it was cooler, going back inside to see the kiddos when it was their turn. BRAVO, TAT and K-Bug! You did an awesome job!

Here are some views from our room balcony at the Homer Inn & Spa. Oh, the delight! See that little cabin off to the right? That is the Spa cabin. We met our massage therapists downstairs from our room and signed all the paperwork, then walked out to the cabin for an hour of bliss.

Hubby had a light touch massage – I got the elbows and knuckles (at my request) and deep tissue massage. We had to go light on him because it was his first.
😉

When we arrived to our room there was a tray with wine glasses – no wine – sitting on the bed. No champers included, but it was a nice touch. There WAS popcorn in the room so we shared a bag of that before going to sleep. It was a gorgeous view from our room! We could hear the ocean and the sea birds and not much else. No road noise.

And, check out the tile treatment in the bathroom!

How cool is THAT?! All local shells and such (there was even a starfish in one spot) from the beach down below the bluff from the inn.

Really . . . if you are EVER up here, go see these folks!

celticmother.jpg What a pretty piece this is!

This is my wish for all of you (received in an email from a cousin – not my own words, but heartfelt and agreed!) It’s a bit long, but I think there is so much good in it, I’m not sure what I would cut. By the way – if you know the author’s name, please email me or post it in a comment below so I can attribute it properly. Thanks!
