Harold went to his non-descript desk job everyday for 20 years. His routine never varied.

The police showed up on a sunny April day and took Harold away in cuffs. His neighbors decried the arrest. They went to court to testify on his behalf.

They were shocked when they discovered the stranger living in the house – in the body of Harold – was the one who had been drugging and killing women for years. “Prostitutes” he would say with scorn. “Humans” the system repeated back to him.

Harold entered his cell, looking neither right nor left, for the next 20 years.

Lance and LeeRoy challenged us with Stranger from Billy Joel. I wonder if any of us truly knows the strangers around us . . . or the stranger within us?

These are my 100 words . . . where are yours?

If you kids don’t knock it off, I’m going to come in there! You don’t want that right?

No, Daddy. We’ll be good. We promise.

More giggles.

Quit monkeying around! Here I come.

The Trifextra weekend challenge was to use an animal as a verb. This is my original thought – and it was exactly 33 words. So, rather than monkeying with it further, I decided to post it as is. I missed the weekly challenge – my first to miss, I think. It’s been a busy week.

This weekend’s entries will be community judged. So, if you’re inclined to do so, read all the entries and vote for your favorite three. You will have exactly 12 hours after the challenge closes to do so. Support writers.

“Ungh!”

Babs sank into the water with a loud moan. Devon turned on the jets and manipulated them to reach just the right spots.

“Devon, you witch! What are you trying to do to me? First you twist me, pull me, and then force me to run to exhaustion. Now you give me relief, but shoot me with the jets.”

“Hush, woman. You know you like it. The pressure will ease your muscles and the warmth of the water will help, too.”

Babs’ mouth softened, spread into a grin as she grabbed Devon and pulled her into the tub.

“Gotcha!”

VV’s challenge for the week was RELIEF. I joined a gym this week – working out with friends three times a week. My muscles are rebelling, reminding me that I am, after all, a senior citizen and should be nicer to my body. All week long my friends and I have been wishing for a jetted tub or a pool at the gym. Neither are there to our chagrin. So, I am torturing myself by writing about it. (with a devious twist – because I am just like that.)

It’s been a long week at work as well, so I am sneaking in at the last minute for this prompt.
