So, if you look down there on the right – under Moosin’ Around – you’ll find a link to NaBloPoMo and you might be wondering – WHA????

As per usual, when I find something new, it is because of Lessa. She seems to find the neatest stuff – and I follow along behind quite meekly.

ANYway . . . the deal is to write a blog post every day in November. If you’ve been reading or checking my journal over the past little while you might understand that this could be a stretch for me. Yeah, not too communicative lately, huh?

And, I’m not all by my lonesome in that. Lisa just wrote a poignant piece about just that over at her place. Sometimes life just gives you a swift kick in the rear – or the face – or wherever it hurts. And, it just stops you cold.

Both Lessa and Lisa have been through some tough times lately. Makes my own stuff seem small by comparison. Maybe that is what empathy and compassion are about – you think? When I get to wallering (as my Mom and Grandma used to say) in my thoughts and such – it is good to look outside of myself and those things and realize that there are others out there who need a hug, too.

And, surprisingly, giving other folks a hug – well, it feels good – because you are getting a hug in return. Right? Right.

anyway – I am not up for NANOWRIMO – never have been. I’m not a novelist kinda person. I write “Gramma” pieces – about my kids, my grandkids, my ancestors. When I do write fiction – it is generally fictionalized truth – all names changed to protect the guilty. And, that can be exhausting.

Anyway – there is NaBloPoMo entry number 2 – done and done.

howzitgoing in your neck of the woods?

this is Lessa’s crew

the T crew and Nonny

and, the Ladybug crew

and a grand time was had by all – I must remember to take the day off again next year. I was able to go to the elementary school fun parade without worrying about being late back from my lunch hour. Great stuff, I tell ya!

after coming by to pick up their goodies from us they all went to the Boys & Girls Club “Trunk or Treat” fun and then to the Elks Club (well, at least Lessa’s crew did) where The Boy won third prize in his division. Yay!

Back to work I go. See ya

did I scare ya? I know – I’ve been lax in the writing stuff lately – well, not really – just here. Sorry ’bout that.

anyway – here is some H’ween humor from Dan the Man:

and another one

and, a SCARY one!

BOO!

H’ween pics of the grandbabies later.

October has fairly slipped away from me because of all the busy-ness at work.

I generally say something during October about breast cancer awareness month. It used to be that I had my mammograms in October, but now they are done in July when my “bosom buddy” (pun intended) and I drive to Anchorage together and have lunch and then our mams (in separate rooms, but upholding each other as we await the word to go home or have further tests)

Breast cancer runs in my family. I lost an aunt to it in 1972. I lost a cousin to it three years or so ago. I try to take care of my breasts – monthly self-exam, physician exam yearly, and yearly mammogram. Yup, we’re all about the touchy-feely here in moosie-breast-land.

Last year I discovered Pink Auctions and then lost the link. Tonight curiosity got the better of me and I went seeking the site again.

Yesterday I wore the necklace I bought from one of the artists during last year’s auctions. I hope you will go and check out the page. I am also hoping they get a few more auction items up. If you ping them and request, I’m sure more will be forthcoming.

in the meantime, be nice to “the girls” as Less would say.

So this is the week of our semi-annual training at work. We hold it every April and every October. It is a busy week for me – I present a couple of the sessions and the rest of the time I am taking care of the busy work: making sure coffee is made and that there are cups, sugar, creamer, etc; putting out nutritious foodstuffs in the morning – and CHOCOLATE and cookies in the afternoons; setting up the power point for the main presenter; etc., etc., etc. (shall we DANCE, ba da bamp ba!)

Yesterday one of the students (these are adult students, btw)looked up at me and said I want to be just like you when I grow up. As I am ever quick with the tongue I laughed and said What? worn out and rushing madly?

She assured me that it was sincerely meant and that if she could think of the word to describe me adequately she would tell me.

Well, folks, that was just a sweet balm. Very kind of her and a much needed compliment at that moment. All together now . . . awwwwwwww
