Local paper with a priceless tongue in cheek look at Alaskan tourists and their misconceptions. You’ll have to register to read one of my favorite columnists. If you’d rather not register and still want to read it, email me and I may let you in on my password information. 😉 (or leave a comment)
Even our mobile homes are igloos??? 😉
Yeah, I know – the quality of the photo isn’t all that great. It’s actually a scan of a post card we printed FROM a photo we took several years ago. We were talking with the fellow who makes/made these and asked if we could take the picture of the building which was on the trailer. I told him my tag line and he insisted on Alaskanizing it that much more by hooking up an OLD beater truck to the trailer. We live in Alaska – we make our own fun.
Another absolutely gorgeous day in Alaska, folks. Of course, with the heat (give us a break – 75 degrees is H.O.T. to Alaskans – and well above normal for this time of year, btw) and the wind comes the dreaded wild fires. There are several burning in the state right now and there is a burn ban in place. Bad news for Memorial Day fishermen/campers, also, as they are not permitted even to have a bonfire. The authorities will be busy, I imagine.
Hubby moose has been busy since Friday holding a “moving sale” at our former business location. He and some of his cronies got together a bunch of junk stuff and have been selling all weekend. They intend to continue tomorrow.
And, what, you may be asking yourselves, will the moose be doing tomorrow? Why, thank you for asking. I will be continuing on the great house cleaning venture. Hubby moose’s best buddy is coming for a visit from Ohio in two weeks. So far the bathroom has had a thorough cleaning and the kitchen is just about finished. Next, the living room and then I will set up the roll-away bed and make his room ready.
Why, yes. I did say roll-away bed. While we love to have company, we try not to make this too comfortable. We have been taken advantage of in the past – an unannounced 30 day (THIRTY DAYS!!!! UNANNOUNCED!!!!) visit by kin of hubby moose comes to mind. 😉 So, a roll-away it is. And, it’s actually quite comfy, btw. He won’t be miserable or anything. lol
We’ll see how I’m feeling – may just jump on the motocycle and head out for a spin tomorrow.
We’ll see.
