The nun’s glasses had again slipped down her nose. A group of tittering students called attention to it as she overheard one remark; “Sister’s looking down her nose like she thinks she’s better than us.”

Sister Maureen stepped away from the cheeky teen girls.

“Little twits”, she thought. “I AM better than you – if my father had not decided I had a heavenly calling I’d be married now and living in luxury. Instead I must witness your unseemly giggles and snide comments daily.”

Maureen sighed, adjusted her glasses, rang the bell and called the girls back in for afternoon studies.

  1. Haha. Poor Maureen. Not an easy job being a teacher of teens generally, so Maureen is bound to be uncool.

  2. Aah. What could have been. The path not taken. Like it.
