moving this post up as a reminder – please go and vote if you haven’t already. Thanks. The knitting blog is in second place right now – up from third – and not far out of first. Have a wonderful Monday.

So, Lessa nominated the knitting blog for an award:

thanks, everyone

All of you who had a part (and you ALL had a part – whether monetarily or through prayers and thoughts for him while he was gone) in the Boy’s trip to Europe . . . head on over to Lessa’s to hear a snippet of the choir’s performance from last night. I know, it is not the same as being there, but you will get a taste.

I, being the old softy that I am, was near to tears during several of their pieces. Most of the music was done without music. Some was done with instruments – viola and violin, flute, French horn. Lovely.

I, being the thrifty, crafty person that I am, took along one of my knitting projects – the felted bag – and worked on it while sitting through a 2 1/2 hour concert(!! – long, but worth it!!)

Harumpf! Well, I was going to post the photo here and brag about how much I had gotten done (see, moosie, it does not pay to brag!), but apparently flickr is having some sort of hissy fit and will not allow me to share. So – look over there to the right – if that is still working – and click on the pictures there. The bag is the two toned piece – I am showing you with my fingers where I was before the concert and you can see how much was accomplished during the concert.

here, I will post a thumb and you can go on to flickr to see the fullsized pic – how’s that?

The pink is the progress I made yesterday morning on the antique patterned baby bonnet. It is a sweet pattern.

So – I am off to work – everyone have a stupendous day!

Hubby moose works as a Shadow at the middle school near our house. He works with a 6th grader and has a heart for each of the kids who cross his path daily.

One little girl is very ill – leukemia – and the parents of her classmates and others have been doing things to fundraise to help the family with the mounting expenses.

The latest event was a mass hair cutting of ponytails to be sent to Locks of Love.  The stylists worked for free – those who simply wanted their ponytails cut and sent to the charity paid no money. Those who wanted a bit of styling paid $25 which was, in turn, collected for the family.

A few days ago hubby came home and said he had made a wager with a teacher at the school – a male who has a very nice long ponytail. The women in the office had been after the man to get his hair cut for the fundraiser. He was reluctant (his SO wouldn’t like it) so hubby moose told him that if HE did it hubby moose would do it! (Hubby moose is VERY secure in his manhood!)

on a jet plane . . . well, the Boy is . . . after he takes a trip on the bus . . . then gets to the airport to head on out to . . . well, I’m not sure where. But I hope it’s not NY. They’ve got a lot of cancellations due to weather. We’ll be praying that whereEVER he has to fly – will be open and allowing jets to land.

He has to get to the east coast in order to jump the pond.

Love you buddy – have a wonderful time!!!

and – hubby moose and I will be driving to Anchorage tomorrow (today?) Saturday to pick up my photos that were displayed for the Fur Rondy Photo Contest. We’ll spend the night at our favorite B&B – and try not to hold it against them – that they just returned from Hawaii – tonight/Friday. I’m glad (no, really) that they were able to get some much needed time away.

It’ll be a leisurely trip (yeah, right!) because we really don’t have a schedule. I have a sort of list in my head of places I would like to stop, but not really a schedule to do it all.

We should be home late Sunday afternoon. Hopefully we will hear that the Boy and the choir are all safely in Spain.

nope – nothing about the Iditarod today. Lots more mushers have finished. You can check the page for yourself to see who.

Nope – today we are closing in on the Boy’s departure for Europe. Many of you helped with allowing him to meet his goal. To you we will forever be grateful. He is a great kid and I love him bunches.

This morning’s paper had a story all about the upcoming trip. It included several pictures – one of which included my grand-boy. Oh, yes, I am THAT tickled about it, too. He is the long haired young man standing next to the really tall man in the one group shot. You can see that same tall man in another photo standing back to back with a much shorter person. The short person? He’s the one who stuck the penny in his nose and couldn’t remove it on our trip to D.C. last year.

Oh, in rereading that I don’t see the story of the penny – well, maybe another day – or maybe it is in another entry – or maybe I just skimmed to quickly and missed it. 😉

Anyway – the tall man is grandson to one of my coworkers – so that’s kind of cool. Oh! And the girl on the other side of the Boy? She is daughter of our in-between neighbor – as in they live in between Lessa and us. Kinda cool that the photographer got them all.

The Boy is quite excited as you can imagine. i think he might be coming down with a cold, though, and that’s sad. I’ve been dosing him with extra vitamin C. Hoping he is young and healthy enough not to get as sick as I have been.

We will miss him while he is gone – TWO WEEKS! – but, oh, what a trip he is going to have.

You all take care, now!
