zayballpit?

I would have entered this into Inspiration Challenge’s Multi-colour contest – if only I had gotten the shot before that challenge was closed. 😉 Nevertheless, there is our youngest grand-boy playing in the ball pit at his sister’s therapy place. It was her therapy graduation day and while she was off working, he was exploring the rest of the rooms. This was a happy circumstantial shot and, yes, it is being printed out for the wall of my office. I have one frame that I continually change photos in – it faces the door, so many of my coworkers stop by to see the newest. (I’m printing a copy for you, too, Ladybug)

Doesn’t he look like he is having a ball? (pun intended). (more…)

Clover ?

Scavenger Hunt Challenge #1, Week 12 of 13
Week beginning 3.18.06
Photos Due by 3.24.06

BONUS POINTS AVAILABLE:

2 pts. if its a four-leaf clover
5 more pts. if it’s photographed growing in the wild

Well, you see, it is still WINTER in Alaska – proven by the fact that it SNOWED yesterday and today and the wind blew and we have drifts up to here(!!) and, so no wild clover. Sigh.

I must admit that as soon as I saw the challenge I read it with a grain of in-bred Irish humor – “C-Lover” is how I saw it and I knew how it must be photographed. Our young pianist at church this morning gladly posed with her hand on middle C with a little Irish bear and his (3 leafed) clover looking on.

You know what? I live in Alaska, I make my own fun. Enjoy. 😉

Hubby took my hard drive in to have the cd repaired or changed. The door did not always open properly. Turned out they changed it. No biggie. Thanks, guys, I appreciate that.

They also decided the fan was “making a funny noise.” Now, that actually sounds like a woman’s way to explain something, huh? Anyway, they changed out the fan, too. Thanks, guys, I appreciate that.

What I DON’T appreciate – or understand – is this apparently inbred need to change around my desktop icons to YOUR satisfaction – and my browser bar to YOUR satisfaction. You know, it was just fine the way I had it. I was used to it, could find things without digging around in the little file folders YOU thought it best to install on MY desktop.

Sheesh!!! What is it with you techie peeps out there? Don’t mess with the little old lady’s lifeline, will ya?

You also added software which you and hubby decided I needed – more security stuff or some such. I was doing just fine, thank you. It is not MY machine that picked up the virus, now is it? Nope, I thought not. And, btw, just WHERE is my AIM???? Hmmmm? Am I gonna hafta download that puppy and set it up again? I know that I didn’t use it all that often, but I DID use it. So, why did you all think it necessary to hide it or eliminate it, huh?

Sigh!

Slept in this morning – still extremely tired for some reason or another. Seems there is a bug running rampant through the family and hubby thinks I might be infected with it. Anyway, I slept in clear until 7:30 a.m. when said hubby called me to tell me F wasn’t going to make it down from Anc. until 8:30 did I want to come in and have breakfast with him? Ummm, no – need to hit the shower. Oh, did I wake you? Dur!

So, instead of jumping right up to hit the shower, since I was sitting here where the phone is, I decided to come in here and rant a bit. Aren’t you all glad I did? 😉

thanks for being there – whoever you are. Have a wonderful Saturday – no matter what time it starts for you.

Brookston Challenge: Landscape of Earth & Sky>>

Scavenger Hunt Challenge #1, Week 11 of 13
Week beginning 3.11.06
Photos Due by 3.17.06

BONUS POINTS AVAILABLE:

1 pt. if your landscape is roughly equal between earth and sky.

The Awakening – a sculpture near the Potomac River. Grandson (that’s him under the knee of the awakening giant) and I have just returned from his 8th grade history class trip to Washington DC. (see previous entry for more information on the trip)

I don’t like to go back into my archives for photos for the challenges, so looked through the DC pics and chose this one for the theme. The kids were challenged by the Course Instructor to decide what the artist meant by the sculpture. Your thoughts?

I have just about caught up with laundry and other such piddlin’ details of life. I think that the worst of the jet lag is also past now. But, I am glad I took these extra two days off work.

Details of the trip? Where to begin . . . well, here are a couple of interesting stats: I took my pedometer along as I knew we would be getting in a fair amount of walking. (fair amount – HA!) The two days with the fewest steps were, of course, the traveling days. Sitting on an airplane does not allow for many, although those runs through airports from gate to gate – well, phew!

Nevertheless, from Sunday when we left Anchorage through the week to Saturday when we returned, I accumulated 106,029 steps. That is just shy of 50 miles for the week! The kids did many more – they didn’t stop to rest as often – and they did a lot of splashing in the pool at the hotel each night. I’d imagine their totals were closer to 75-80 miles for the week.

Another stat: 6 young men – 6 young women – 4 adults (1 male teacher, 1 female school district chaperone, one dad, and one gramma). Those were some pretty good odds that the kids would have at least one set of eyes on them at all times.

There are pics on the flickr bar. I’ll get in there today if I can to add captions so you will know what it is you are seeing through my eyes. (more…)
