green

It Ain’t Easy Bein’ Green
(an all green photograph)
Brookston Scavenger Hunt Challenge #2, Week 7 of 13
Week beginning 5.13.06
Photos Due by 5.19.06
BONUS POINTS AVAILABLE:
1 pt. if the only color in the photo is green.
2 pts. if there at least three shades of green.
– – – – – –

Yup – that there is mah house – peeling paint and all. And, there are AT LEAST three shades of green in thar. Ooops – there’s even some yellow. 😉 Nope, not gonna pull them – that’s the grandbabies’ flower garden, you see. Nothing better than a little darlin coming up with a “flower, Nana”. I love it.

So – what you are seeing there besides the peeling painted house and the yellow “flowers” – rhubarb just starting to leaf out in the lower left of the photo – and green grass invading the “flower patch”. The bush to the right is a lilac that has been “growing” for years in that corner – youngest daughter (Ladybug) planted it and it just has never gotten much bigger – I think that is because the moose chomp it down every winter.

Oh – and yes, the grass is still pretty brownish and thin. It’s only May, after all. There is still snow and ice alongside some roads (thankfully not ours).

Alaska – you gotta love it (or else you’ll leave it.)

btw – definition for you. “Sourdough”

that’s someone who is sour on Alaska and doesn’t have enough dough to leave. I’m not a sourdough yet. (badumbum!)

bridge under re-construction

A Bridge

Scavenger Hunt Challenge #2, Week 6 of 13
Week beginning 5.6.06
Photos Due by 5.12.06

BONUS POINTS AVAILABLE:

1 pt. if the water or land below the bridge is visible.
2 pts. if a ship or other vehicle is passing beneath the bridge.

This is for Brookston’s weekly photo challenge. Everyone has been posting lovely bridge pictures – mine? well – I would have to drive an hour or so to get the one I would REALLY like to post – no time this week – so I am posting this one – the Soldotna bridge over the Kenai River. They are adding 2 more lanes to the bridge – thus the crane and such. Should be finished sometime this summer.

which key on your keyboard is nearly worn off – the one you can’t see any longer? Mine is the “e” key. But I pretty much type without looking anyway. Pretty much – those dratted number keys and symbol keys. I musta been sleeping during THOSE finger drills.

Anyone else remember finger drills? My typing (yes, I said TYPING) teacher – sister somebody or other – made us hold our hands up in the air and close our eyes and she would call out letters and we had to use proper fingering. Proper enough to suit her.

Musta worked – I’ve been tested at 67 wpm with 0 errors. If I don’t mind making errors I type much faster. btw – that 67 with NO errors? I made errors, but was fast enough to backspace quickly and correct before the time ran out. heh. Didn’t get me the job, but made the interviewer sit up and take notice. Shocked him, it did, it did.

but – my fingers are hurting today – have still been having trouble with my left arm – it goes to sleep on me – and I think I slept wrong last night and pinched something because my little finger on my left hand is painful today.

that is a small price to pay – and I am not complaining.

All thoughts and prayers go out to Miss Lolo today. Hugs your way, friend.

Trust me when I say we know what you are going through. Stay healthy through this next little while, ‘kay?

hmmmmm – what WAS it I came in here to say? Dunno. Gotta go. See ya’ll later.

. . . outside my window is all pinky tonight. I missed the sunset, but I have a feeling it must have been a nice one. There is this pink hue/aura over the neighborhood.

?I have the window next to me cracked open a bit – just a little bit because there is a breeze and it has a bite to it. Temps have been in the mid 40s this week – down from the 50s last week. The people I walk with on Tuesdays and Thursdays told me this morning that they plan to walk in the gym probably through the end of May because of the temps. Shoot! I was figuring on getting outside next week. May do so anyway. Nothing to say I can’t, huh?

Brisk walking – brisk, I tell ya. Just as long as the white stuff/SNAIN stays away.

It was anything but cool tonight as I stood before a group of 19 people giving a power point presentation. I had asked hubby to turn off the heat because it was sending me over the edge. He complained the rest of the evening about being chilly, but doggone it, I was H.O.T.! Oh, and the temperature bothered me, too.

heh

Lessa surprised us at the end of the presentation by bringing in a cake. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Yum. Thanks, kiddo.

Well, guess I should get off here, brush my teeth and get off to bed. 5 a.m. comes alwfully early in the morning.

bless you. 😉 heh

so the anchorage paper is calling for haiku about salmon – and while I was “busy” sitting at the desk today and unable to do my work in my office, I began doodling them out. Sent them in – here are a couple:

Salmon bright side up

Lemon, garlic, onion, YUM!

Belly up to the plate

Fly fishing sure beats

Working – the old man spat and

Landed another red

fun, huh? ?I ended up with 13 to send. Had to force myself to quit, they were that much fun to write. I’ll let you know if any make the paper.
