Governor Sean Parnell came to my work location today. (I work for a domestic violence shelter) Recently the governor announced a “comprehensive initiative to fight the cycle of abuse.” That is heartening for those of us who work with victims and with the batterers. (My job is working with batterers.)

The Governor is going around the state meeting with people in the field. Today he and his staff came and met with our director and members of the board. He also took a tour of the shelter and spoke with some of the clients.

As he left we gave him a shirt from last year’s Run for Women and took some pictures.

I asked permission to have my picture taken with him AND to post it on the blog. He graciously agreed to both.

Hubbymoose and I have friends in Ohio who are constantly amazed that we meet and greet with folks like the governor and our elected officials. But, you know? That is just part of the fun of living in Alaska.
